Combining the LED technology with ITS (information transportation systems) allows the user to control the lighting to maximize efficiencies and decrease energy requirements.

Facts are LED:

  1. Saves Money
  2. Saves the Environment
  3. Lessens the Carbon Foot Print on the Planet

(With this new technology, control when lights turn on and off, set timing and scheduling, and adjust output level of light needed. Take it even further and control the lighting wirelessly from a smart phone, tablet, or computer).

LED lighting can be installed using 18 AWG cable; however, utilizing Category 5 or 6 cable allows for greater control, similar to applications that are used in voice and data systems.

The LED lights are installed and connected to a network, allowing for control and automation.

Low-voltage light offers installers an opportunity to expand their service in a growing technology. The LED Lighting System will save significant cost in energy consumption and expand the knowledge base and technical offering of the company.Today, it is being employed in multiple applications, including office spaces, data centers and schools.

The basic components of a low-voltage system include:

  1. Engines to deliver low-voltage power to the light fixtures
  2. An alternating current (AC) infrastructure to power the engines
  3. Low-voltage cabling from the engines to LED gateways
  4. Sensors to measure environmental data
  5. LED lighting fixtures

Category 5, 5e or 6 unshielded twisted-pair cable can be installed to connect the engine to the light fixtures. The lighting fixtures are equipped with sensors that allow for the customization of the lighting system. The sensor is connected to the fixture through the gateway back to engine. The sensor and gateway reside next to or within each LED fixture. The sensor measures motion through an infrared motion sensor, ambient light levels, temperature, current and voltage.

What this allows is for lights turn on and off based on occupancy in a particular area. Lights turn on and off based on the amount of present ambient light. Lights turn on and off based on the amount of foot traffic in an area. What this allows is for automation and control to decrease the energy consumption for lighting requirements in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
